Fujitsu General — sold across the UAE under the O General name as well — uses a colon-separated "E:xx" code format on current models, and a two-character format on older units. The two generations overlap in characters but not always in meaning, so the first step is identifying which format your unit displays. On wired remotes the display combines the indoor unit address with the fault code, which is why the reading is often longer than the code itself.

How do Fujitsu General (O General) error codes work?

Current models display E:00 to E:13 — a colon, then two characters identifying the fault. E:0 and E:01 are communication faults, E:02 to E:07 are indoor and outdoor sensor faults, E:08 is a power supply problem, E:09 is a drain float switch trip, and E:0C to E:0F cover discharge temperature. Older units use a two-character format (00, 01, 1A, 24) with its own table. On wired remotes the indoor unit address is shown as a prefix before the fault code.

Where the code is displayed — and why it matters

The same fault can be labelled differently depending on which display you read it from, so identify the display before looking the code up.

Displays the indoor unit address as a prefix followed by the fault code — the address is not part of the fault.
Wireless remote LED flash count

How the families differ

  • The legacy two-character table and the current E:xx table are separate. A bare "13" on an old unit and "E:13" on a current one should each be read against their own table.
  • Legacy codes are documented with the letter O rather than a zero in several positions (O1, OA, OC, OE) — the character shown on the display decides which row applies.
  • On wired remotes the reading combines the indoor unit address with the fault code, so on a multi-split installation it also tells you which indoor unit reported the fault.

Before you act on a code

  • E:0F reports a high discharge temperature, which our source attributes to contamination in the pipework or a refrigerant shortage. Repeatedly restarting the unit through this fault risks the compressor.
  • E:08 is a power-supply fault. If it appears alongside a tripped breaker, leave the unit off and have the supply inspected rather than resetting repeatedly.
  • Fujitsu General VRF and J-series-specific variations are still in technical review and are not published here.

Yes. O General is the brand name Fujitsu General's air conditioners are sold under in this region, and the same E:xx and legacy code tables apply. Read the code against the format shown on the display rather than the badge.

What does E:01 mean on a Fujitsu General AC?

E:01 is an indoor-to-outdoor unit communication fault. The indoor and outdoor boards are no longer exchanging valid signals — check first that the outdoor unit still has power, then the interconnecting wiring, then the boards.

What does E:09 mean?

E:09 means the float switch has activated because the condensate water level is too high. In Dubai this is usually a blocked or badly sloped drain line, and the unit stops deliberately to avoid overflowing into the room.

Why does my remote show numbers before the error code?

On wired remotes Fujitsu General displays the indoor unit address as a prefix to the fault code. The prefix identifies which indoor unit reported the fault; only the suffix is the code you look up.
