Haier is the clearest example of why a code must never be read without knowing the product line. The same E1 is a stuck front-panel button on older portable units, a coil sensor failure on newer portables, and a high-pressure protection trip on wall-mounted splits. Haier's ducted medium-static range is different again: it signals the fault as a calculation from two LED flash counts rather than as a code you can look up.
How do Haier AC error codes work?
Haier codes are product-line specific. Portable units built in 2016 and earlier, portable units from 2017 onward, and wall-mounted splits each use their own meanings for the same E0, E1 and E2 characters. FL on a portable means the water tank is full. C1 on a split is a wired-controller communication error. Ducted medium-static units instead use an LED flash calculation, where the outdoor code equals the flash counts of LED4 and LED3 combined as (M×10+N)−20.

Before you act on a code
- Never read a Haier portable code against the split table, or the reverse. E1 in particular means something different on each product line.
- On a split, E1 is a high-pressure protection trip — the system has stopped to protect itself, and in Dubai this usually points to poor heat rejection at the outdoor unit rather than a faulty board.

What does E1 mean on a Haier AC?
It depends entirely on the product line. On a wall-mounted split, E1 is a high-pressure protection trip. On a portable unit built in 2016 or earlier it indicates a stuck front-panel button, and on a 2017-or-newer portable it indicates a tube or coil pipe sensor failure. Identify the unit type before acting on the code.
What does FL mean on my Haier portable AC?
FL means the water chassis or tank is full. Portable units collect condensate internally, so the unit stops until the tank is emptied or the drain hose is connected and running freely.
How do I read the error code on a Haier ducted unit?
Ducted medium-static units do not display a code. Count the flash sequences on LED4 and LED3 on the outdoor board and apply Haier's formula — the outdoor error code equals (M×10+N)−20 from those two counts.
Is Haier C1 a serious fault?
C1 reports a communication error between the wired controller and the unit — the controller is unresponsive rather than the cooling system being faulty. Wiring, terminations and the controller itself are what need checking.
