- Your AC normally has its own labelled breaker. If it has tripped, something asked it to — so reset it once and pay attention to what happens next. If it holds, note the date; if it trips again, the fault is electrical and the unit stays off.
- Local isolator switched off
- Most units have an isolator switch near the indoor or outdoor unit. It gets switched off during cleaning, painting, pest control or fit-out work and simply never switched back on. It is a recurring 'dead AC' call-out, and it costs nothing to check.
- No supply to that circuit
- In apartments, a building-side supply issue or works on your riser can kill the AC circuit while the rest of the flat looks normal. If other circuits also behave oddly, it is not your AC.

- Restart delay after a power cut
- Many systems hold off for several minutes to protect the compressor, and some need a full power cycle after an interruption. Waiting is part of the check.
- Thermostat or interlock wiring fault
- The controller can look perfectly alive while the signal never reaches the equipment — a broken interconnect wire or a failed control board. This needs testing, not guessing.
