Daikin uses a single unified alphanumeric code system — a letter identifies the fault category and a digit identifies the specific fault. The same conceptual system is shared across Room Air (split), Sky Air, VRV and packaged systems, but the exact code-to-meaning mapping can vary by remote controller generation, so the code should always be confirmed against your specific model.
How do Daikin error codes work?
The first letter of a Daikin error code identifies where the fault is: A codes are indoor unit faults, E codes are outdoor unit faults, U codes are system or communication faults, and so on. The number that follows identifies the specific fault. Codes are read from the remote controller's self-diagnosis function, and their exact meaning can differ between wireless (ARC-series) and wired (BRC-series) controllers.

Where the code is displayed — and why it matters
The same fault can be labelled differently depending on which display you read it from, so identify the display before looking the code up.
- Wireless remote (ARC series)
- Residential splits: hold the remote's cancel/inspection button until the display enters self-diagnosis, then read the code.
- Wired wall controller (BRC series)
- Sky Air and VRV: the code appears directly on the controller, sometimes with the affected indoor unit's address.
- Outdoor unit PCB
- VRV: the outdoor board reports system-level faults that may not surface on a single indoor controller.

The letter tells you which part of the system reported the fault, which makes even an unlisted code partially readable:

How the families differ
- A single split reports faults for one indoor/outdoor pair, so a communication code there narrows to a short list — wiring, connections or power.
- VRV adds addressing between many indoor units, a branch selector on heat-recovery systems, and centralized controllers — the same U-series code therefore has more possible causes and needs the Daikin Service Checker to confirm and clear.
- Chiller and hydronic combinations use a numeric malfunction family (80, 81, 8H) that must never be read against the split-system letter table.

How to identify your system
- Note the exact code shown, and whether it appears on a wireless remote, a wired wall controller, or an outdoor unit display.
- Note your indoor unit's model number (on a label under or behind the front panel).
- A single wall unit is usually Room Air; multiple indoor units running from one large outdoor unit in a villa or office is usually VRV.

Daikin error codes — common questions
Do all Daikin models use the same error codes?
No. The letter-category system is shared, but exact code meanings can vary by product family and controller generation. Daikin's own documentation lists which families each code applies to, so always confirm against your specific model.
How do technicians diagnose Daikin VRV faults?
Professional Daikin technicians typically use the Daikin Service Checker tool to confirm and clear VRV fault codes. High-severity VRV codes should not simply be cleared by power-cycling, because that masks the underlying fault and can allow failures to cascade across zones.
Can I reset a Daikin error code myself?
Switching the unit off and on may clear a transient code, but if the code returns the fault is real and needs diagnosis. On VRV systems, avoid repeated power-cycling to clear codes — record the code and call a technician.
Why does my Daikin show a code after a power cut?
Dubai AC circuits are required to have an under-voltage relay with a 5–10 minute auto-reset delay. After an outage the system can look faulted while it is simply waiting out that delay — give it at least ten minutes before treating the code as real.
