Blue Star is common in Dubai apartments and villas, but its residential error-code documentation is noticeably thinner than the major Japanese and Chinese manufacturers. We publish the eight residential split codes we can confirm across two consistent sources, and we say plainly that the brand's substantial GCC commercial VRF and ducted range is not yet covered — rather than presenting a short table as if it were complete.
How do Blue Star AC error codes work?
On Blue Star residential splits, E codes cover sensor and protection faults — E1 indoor air sensor, E2 indoor coil sensor, E3 outdoor coil sensor, E5 compressor overcurrent and E6 indoor–outdoor communication. F codes cover control and outdoor faults — F1 indoor PCB EEPROM, F2 indoor coil sensor and F3 outdoor fan motor failure.

Where the code is displayed — and why it matters
The same fault can be labelled differently depending on which display you read it from, so identify the display before looking the code up.

- Splits show the code on the front panel display.

- Some models report the code on the remote instead.
Blue Star code letters
Two prefixes cover the documented residential set:
- E
- Sensor faults and protection trips (including communication)
- F
- Control board memory and outdoor fan faults
How the families differ
- Both E2 and F2 are documented as indoor coil temperature sensor faults, so the letter alone does not separate sensor faults from control faults on this brand.
- Blue Star's commercial VRF and ducted ranges use their own code tables, which our research pass did not surface — a code from a commercial system should not be read against this residential table.

Blue Star error codes — common questions
What does Blue Star E6 mean?
E6 is a communication failure between the indoor and outdoor unit. The fault sits in the interconnecting wiring, the terminations or the control boards at either end rather than in the cooling circuit. One power cycle is reasonable; a code that returns needs inspection.
What does Blue Star E5 mean?
E5 is a compressor overcurrent protection trip — the system stopped to protect the compressor. It is the most serious code in the confirmed set, and repeated resets risk compressor damage.
Why is your Blue Star list shorter than other brands?
Because only these codes could be confirmed across two consistent sources. Blue Star's residential documentation is thinner than most manufacturers', and we would rather publish eight verified codes than pad the table with guesses.
Do Blue Star commercial units use the same codes?
Not necessarily. Blue Star maintains a substantial GCC commercial VRF and ducted range that our research pass did not surface, so a code from one of those systems should not be read against this residential table.
